Update
10th November 2008
On
Sunday November 9th, we were at last able to again use our own building
for our Sunday worship service.
The interior is now back to its normal inviting aspect, after
the work of many members and of the professional
firms Revival and Jehu. Afterwards
we had a fellowship meal together with food provided by our lady
members with
their famed culinary arts.
The
service was led by Assistant Pastor Bob Davies, who gave some insight
into the spiritual benefit he had gained from
his and Sally's recent visit To Israel. Pastor John Kingdom preached on
"In the House of the LORD." With his left
leg in plaster to the thigh, he spoke sitting in a high chair in the
manner of Rabbis in the synagogue. Today he has had
the plaster reduced to below the knee which will allow him more
mobility, but he has been warned to be very careful for
the other ankle lest he damage that too.
Please
pray for continued healing and protection for John who has
had a very trying time over the past few months,
having the burdens of the health of his own body of his family, of the church building, and of the church.
I use
the word "trying" purposely.. "That
the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that
perisheth,
though it be tried with
fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing
of Jesus Christ."
At a recent service Ray and Mavis Martin announced that they would be leaving
our fellowship as they felt that God is calling them into a new
season.
This
was received with surprise, sadness, and understanding. Over the years
this couple have been faithful and energetic servants of the Lord in our
midst
and we
all owe them heartfelt thanks, more than most members probably realise.
They have been living examples of the command of the Lord
Jesus
that we
should love one another. Our prayers and thanks go with them as they
seek to play less strenuous roles in the universal church of Jesus
Christ
and we know that they will keep in touch.
