[Missions] Prison
Parc Prison & YOI Bridgend Release breakfast for Paul
Some members of our congregation visit the local Parc Prison and Young Peoples Institute on appointed Sunday mornings and various weekday evenings as a part of the Prison Fellowship.
We seek to guide those inmates who join us into a knowledge of Jesus
Christ as Saviour and the One Who can rebuild their lives and
relationships both within prison and after their release.
..Angel Tree..
is another Prison Fellowship
initiative. It should not be forgotten that when a man (or woman) gets
a prison sentence, it very often becomes a sentence for the families -
especially any children who may not see their fathers for years -
except maybe on prison visits, an artificial situation if ever there
was one. The Angel Tree project buys and delivers suitable and
appropriate presents for the children of those prisoners who have
contacts with the various Christian outreaches in the prison. The
children also get a small book appropriate to their age telling the
Christmas story.
..Summary..
The Gospel is being preached and
practiced not only in a forcibly enclosed community in which many men
have deliberately turned their backs on the Light, but also under the
ultimate responsibility of a Prison Service in which many officials are
firmly opposed to any Christian involvement at all and yet can find no
alternative programmes which have significant affects.
